England needed just 87 minutes to complete formalities to stave off from rain

Swann's late burst and Anderson's 2 in 2 balls was all that was needed for England to strangle Aussies by an innings and 71 runs. The hosts suffer the ignominy of their first innings defeat at home since their capitulation to the West Indies at Perth in 1993 and, to be brutally honest, it's hard to see them bouncing back to win two of the next three games to reclaim the urn. Stranger things have happened, of course, but Australia will need something truly inspirational. But, with this depleted bowling attack, it will take Aussies a mammoth effrot to climb to take that 20 wickets a test.

With Katich out of the reckoning for the reminder of the series, Aussies will have to go back to the drawing board, to make a plan to have Katich and North replaced, in the batting and ofcourse, consider bringing back Nathan Hauritz back in the reckoning, in the bowling department.

England will be glad to have a 2 weeks rest before the start of the Perth test, though they have a tour game in between. Though Board, will be out of reckoning for the 3rd test match, they have Tremlett, who will be good in these conditions.

This England team, is a sure to watch out. With this kind of form, England would need just 2 years to ensure that they topple India in the ICC rankings. So, watch out India...
