South Africa, have been gaining confidence, of late out of good performance as a team.
The individual performance are driven by the team. AB De Villiers, Rossouw, Faf du Plessis, Miller scoring runs, Hashim scoring hundreds, Steyn, Morne Morkel and Tahir taking wickets. It is pleasing to see their shoulders rests the heaviest expectation.
Pressure, as South Africans are discovering, can bring out the best and worst out of a competitive spotsmen. Yes, there is no hiding from the fact that they were called chockers as the pressure brought them their down fall always. But having said that these days they stick together and make sure they win those pressure moments.
They have now started counting every run during the pressure situation as is being seen against Sri Lanka during their warm-up match.
This is one team which will have a selection headache of choosing the best XI possible always, as most of them are in best of their forms – against India and West Indies, I am sure Imran Tahir will be reckoned with as this will suit more of spin than pace. But during other matches, I am sure they will have all their fast bowlers doing much of a talk.
This is the best team available for South Africa for a long time and their best opportunity to lift the trophy and they are aware of that. They would like to take match by match and not see beyond that.
They are the team to reckon with to lift the trophy…
