India Starring at defeat, Murali just 2 away from 800 wickets

If you have been following my blog, you would, by now, realize that my reviews and analysis of this ongoing match has been totally on target. Yes, in yesterday's artcile, my header clearly stated as  'Day and Match Point': India In the same article I  also concluded  that I have more faith and trust with the rain god in saving this match for India than trust on the the performance of World No. 1. cricketers to save this match. I had also indicated at the end of day 2 that Rain brings smiles to the faces of Indians, sufficiently indicating that Rain god will help save this match.

Such is the lacklustre performance of this team, that cannot be imagined by a World No.1 team - Last time in 2008 in Sri Lanks it was M&M (Mendis and Murali), this time again it is M&M (Malinga and Murali) that did the trick for SL. India, never great in batting out draws, were left with an uphill task if they are to get out of jail at Galle.

All India needed to bat today was bat session-by-session and thats exactly they did not know, rather every batsman threw away the wicket in the 1st innings.Muralitharan broke the back of India's resistance in the first innings by taking out MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, after Virender Sehwag's soft dismissal, and forced India to bat again. Malinga took over the demolition job in the second. India had seemingly recovered from their tea-time score of 68 for 2 at tea, as Dravid and Tendulkar settled the nerves with a fine, risk-free partnership in the last session. Tendulkar, especially, showcased delicious timing but both were ambushed by Malinga.

India needs a serious talk from Kirsten, if they were to remain in the No.1 spot. Lots of eyebrows will be raised with the pathetic display
