India needs to evolve different playing XI for T20

What happened to Indian Team Management and the selection committee

Is too much of cricket taxing India? or is it too much of money taxing the pride to play for the nation?

It is not only the team management in the W.Indies to be blamed for the debacle, it is also the selection process led by Krish Srikkanth

Lots of questions remains unanswered

(a) Why did Selection committee announce the team during the 1st week of the IPL itself when it had another 2 weeks to announce the team?
(b) What made them to leave out Amit Mishra or Ojha
(c) What made them to draft Jadeja in the team, when he has not had any match practice?
(d) What is the problem with Irfan Pathan - Why is he being metted with this treatment?

T20, is more to do with allrounders who can bowl medium pace and bat well (like Angelo Mathews, Pollard, Bravo). But in India, T20 players are part time spinners and that too used in sparse spells by Dhoni.

Critical Problems on hand

If you look at the age of the present bowlers - Zaheer (31 years), Ashish Nehra (31 years), Harbhajan (29 years) - they have already past their peak season, and yet, stretch themselves to playing T20. In the next 2-3 years, once they leave the scene, we will be drained with new ball bowlers...

We need to think differently

My giving rest to the Seniors in the upcoming triangular series, the selection committee has moved in the right direction. But, keeping in mind, the future of Indian Cricket, it is high time we think of playing a complete new XI, that consists of young Indian aspirants (likes of Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar, Saurabh Tiwary, Abhishek Nayar,R.Sathish, Manish Pandey, Vinay Kumar, Robin Uthappa, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Abhinav Mukund, Ashwin, Irfan Pathan, Naman Ojha, Manoj Tiwari, Sreesanth, R.P.Singh, Ashok Dinda) and groom them for the one-day internationals and probably test matches. By this they will not only take care of their present problems in T20 but handle their future aspirants who can play the long version of the game - but the process has to start here.

Also, the zonal team selection process has to make way for, probably a 3 team member selection process, who are very sensible, selfess crickers who dont think about their zone, process oriented, result focus oriented and sensitive. The 3 member team could be, in my view, Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly.

It is high time we take a note of the above and look at our approach to cricket from a different perspective before it becomes too late.
