SL Vs England: ODi Series: A cake walk ODI series win for SL

A 5-2 win over England is what was least expected and that is what Sri Lanka have easily compiled without much fuss. This is what we had analyzed before the start of the ODI series... (Please read: A cake walk expected for Sri Lanka)

I was expecting a 7-0 victory by Sri Lanka but that was not to be.

The worry over the win for me is that Sri Lanka went back to their confident best - teams packed with spinners than the the fast bowling option - thus avoiding themselves too much of options to think about for the World Cup matches. They had Lakmal and Prasad on the wickets column and I very well see they will be a bowler shot if Malinga does not make it for the World Cup.

With Chandimal back into the reckoning, after a very long rope, Sri Lankan selectors for now, can think of him and Thirumanne as the possible replacement after the retirement of the stalwarts in Jayawardane and Sangakarra.

Well, England are confused lot and this was their main reason for their downfall. They have been making changes every match and did not have any combinations going. To remove Ian Bell or Bopara for more than 2 matches talks about the plight of the situation that they are in.

England has a lot of home work to do and currently they are in a position where they know that they will not be able to make it to the top 4 of the World Cup to be played in Australia. I personally feel that Cook should clearly be out of the reckoning for the World Cup.
