It looks like the 4 Indian team viz., CSK, RCB, KKR and MI might not make into the last 4 with what all 9 teams create a great competition to make it to an eventful CLT20.
While the wash-out rain in Bangalore has somewhat opened up the match on Thursday and Saturday, to an extent, the Sunday's match involving MI and CSK have really opened up the Group A. The loss to MI and CSK has not only put a breaks on their own progress, but more effectively, put the teams like T&T on the front foot.
Though CSK has a match to be played, I am sure their chances of making it to the last four is all but over. This particular match has put MI in a spot of bother too!! Their NRR is not going to help them at all. Thus, to me, MI & CSK, are out of this tournament, already.
As regards Group B is concerned, RCB, with their 2 losses and -ve NRR, cannot reach to the top four, while KKR, though spotted No.2, cannot be reached in to the top four for the simple reason that if Somerset and/or SA win one of the matches, they will topple KKR for the 2nd spot.
These Indian teams have themselves to blame. The pitches in Chennai, particular, was a typical Indian wicket. While T&T have learnt their lessons by picking 3 spinners, CSK, looks like, have not done any closed room meeting. The match was lost when Cooper of T&T hit that swashbuckling 28 of 9 balls and that too was hit to all pacers. Why was Raina not asked to bowl? Why was Hussey not asked to bowl his slow medium pacers?Again, Bhajji, faltered a lot too! When NSW were 28/5, he did not deploy close-in feilders, instead he had a in-side-outside field, which made life very easy for NSW batsmen.
