Sehwag's double trouble leaves India staring at No.1 position

It was one of the rarest of the rarest you would see an opener getting out in this fashion. Sehwag can get out to a good ball, like the way, he got out in the 1st innings, but, his 2nd innings misery, another 1st ball dismissal followed - It was horrifying to say the least. He chased a ball wide outside the off-stump only to be consumed by Strauss in the 1st slip. The next ball, was of a similar ball, which Dravid knew how to leave that ball outside the off-stump. Sehwag's dismissal sums up India's tale in the current ongoing series. The series is beyond India, ofcourse.

Allowing players like Morgan to notch up a century after having spilled twice is a matter of great concern not only for the current Indian team but the future looks obnoxiously awful. Without Zaheer, this Indian bowling team does not have the brain to bowl to the batsmen's weakness This coupled with the field placing has put India in a situation where it is now. For example, for Cook, Dhoni did not have a silly point and atleast on several occasions, the batsman misread Mishra and he simply survived because there was no fielder there. Again, Cook did not a gully fielder and lots of shots were in the air towards that Region. Pieterson did not fielders in the midwicket and lots of runs were being leaked in that area. There was no 3rd man fielder till the score went beyond 400.

Zaheer's presence not only uplifts the team as a bowler, mind you, he is the leader for the bowling department and knows where exactly to bowl. He motivates the bowlers accordingly. So, what does our bowling coach do?

As mentioned in my previous column India looked like a Bangladesh XI - clueless, right from the beginning of this season.

In a month's time, we will have forgotten this and cheer up for Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians as they play for CL T20 matches. Thus, the likes of Dhoni, Raina, Ashwin (CSK), Kohli, Praveen Kumar, (RCB), Sachin, Bhajji, Zaheer (MI) will be playing. Once this tournament gets over, West Indies plays in India, followed by a ODI with England followed by India's visit to Australia till Feb 2012. Indian players are not to be blamed it is the BCCI who have to take the blame for their unstructured itenary schedule.
