Indian Selectors meet up today to select their 15 players for the forthcoming 3-Test matches against Sri Lanka at Sri Lanka.
The following players pick themselves for this tie -
Virendra Sehwag
Gautam Gambhir
Dravid
Tendulkar
VVSLaxman
Dhoni
Harbhajan
Zaheer Khan
Irshant Sharma
Sreesanth
Ohja
Amit Mishra
Depending on Sehwag's fitness, Murali Vijay will be sent as a specialist opener and his liking for the longer version of the game will prove to be effective for him.
Others in the frontline for the 6th slot will be as follows
Yuvraj Singh
S.Badrinath
Suresh Raina
Dhoni's liking to have Yuvraj in the playing XI is very much known. That the Indian captain has won the Asia Cup, he can definitely command Yuvraj's inclusion in the 15.
As regards the all-rounders are concerned, it is time Irfan Pathan is given a relook, in that case, the 6th batting slot need not be considered.
The selectors would evolve within this 15 members, and if any replacement is found required during the test series, they already have a 'replacement specialist' in the form of Dinesh Karthik.
But the selectors will not spring a surprise to include any new commodity, since they would like to maintain the World No.1 status, as they would be aware that there would be no more test series after this one till the World Cup 2011.
