India Played at the hands of Australia

I was petrified when I saw Dhoni going into this match with only 3 frontline bowlers. All great captains realize that in T20 when you win the toss and wanted to insert the opposition, it is not about batting but more about restricting the opponents to a very low total. But, knowing this, Dhoni, gambled by opting out Piyush Chawla and paying a heavy price.

I had mentioned in my earlier column that the team will only qualify for the semi-final, only if the captains are able to clearly think and act ahead of the game. By the shocking display of what Dhoni did on Friday, it will require a yeoman effort for him to motivate his players and take them to the next stage. Let me reinstate that T20 is more of a mind game.

The only solace that India had from this match was the form of Rohit. Will Murali Vijay be sidelined the next match to pave way for Rohit? Will Piyush be brought into the playing XI? - Only Dhoni and his Management team can answer....

The shocking result of Sri Lanka winning the match against W.Indies has really opened this group.

In today's match between England and South Africa, South Africa will settle scores with England because of its sheer balance in its ranks. And in today's other game, NewZealand could see winning this game against Pakistan because Pakistan has not found a successful playing XI yet. They are the most talented team on earth but they fail to play as a unit.
